Terms of Service — Open Slot

By using Open Slot (the "Service"), whether directly or through Meta's Muse, you agree to these terms. The Service has two kinds of users — business owners and customers — and these terms apply to both.

What the Service does

Open Slot lets a business publish its services and hours and accept appointment requests through chat, and lets a customer find a business's open times and request an appointment. Every booking requires the business's explicit approval before it's confirmed. It's a scheduling and booking tool.

What the Service is not

  • Not a guarantee of availability. A time shown as open may be requested by someone else before you do, and a requested time isn't confirmed until the business approves it.

  • Not a payment processor. The Service doesn't handle payment in this version. Arrange payment directly with the business.

  • Not a substitute for contacting the business directly for anything outside scheduling an appointment.

  • Not a verification of a business's cancellation policy or services. We display what a business tells us; we don't independently verify it.

Your account

  • You must provide accurate information when you sign up.

  • You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.

  • If you're a business owner, you may only publish a business you're authorized to represent.

  • If you're a customer, you may only request appointments for yourself or someone you're authorized to book for.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

  • Attempt to access another user's data or account.

  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the Service.

  • Use automated means to extract data from the Service beyond normal use through Muse or the Service's own interface.

  • Make repeated or bad-faith booking requests you don't intend to keep.

Fees

The Service is free in this version. If we introduce a paid tier in the future, we'll clearly disclose pricing before you're charged, and any billing will happen through Ava Research LLC's own site, never through Meta.

Availability

We aim to keep the Service running reliably but don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may perform maintenance, and rarely, the Service may be unavailable without advance notice.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your data at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms, misuse, or abuse of the Service.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ava Research LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages related to a missed appointment, a declined request, or a scheduling error. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
