Privacy Policy — Filed
Ava Research LLC · Last updated: October 17, 2026
This policy covers Filed (the "Service"), a connector that searches real federal court filings and SEC disclosures by company and matter type through Muse. The defining rule of the Service: Filed surfaces; the user decides. It never tells you whether you qualify, are eligible, or are part of any class — that call belongs to the listed firm or the court, never to Filed.
What we store, and why
There is no user-data container anywhere in this Service. Filed doesn't keep an account, a search history, or anything tied to who you are. The only things stored are two shared, anonymous caches, neither keyed on anything that identifies you or your company:
-
A docket-search cache: keyed only on the matter type, date window, and open/closed status you searched — never a company name. It expires automatically after 24 hours and is shared across every user who searches the same window, the same way a search engine's own cache is shared.
-
An SEC disclosure index: a periodic batch copy of public EDGAR filings, expires automatically after 30 days, also shared and not tied to any user.
-
What you tell Filed about your own situation (for the side-by-side comparison tool) is used only for that one request and is never saved anywhere, by anyone, afterward.
-
Technical logs: request type, outcome, and timing only. Logs never contain a company name, a search query, or anything you've told Filed about your own situation.
What we don't collect
Filed doesn't ask for or store payment information, government ID numbers, location, or health information. It never files a claim, submits a document, or takes any action on your behalf — it only reads public records.
No third-party sharing
Filed's searches go to two public sources: CourtListener's RECAP archive (courtlistener.com) and SEC EDGAR (sec.gov). The search sent to CourtListener is deliberately generalized — a nature-of-suit code and a date window only, never your company name. Nothing you tell Filed about your own situation is ever sent to either source.
Permissions Muse asks for
One permission, Filed.ReadWrite, required for three of Filed's five tools — not because they touch anything of yours, but to help protect the shared, rate-limited public search from anonymous abuse. Two tools (get_methodology, find_disclosures) need no sign-in at all, since neither one calls anything live.
Who can see it
-
No one — there is nothing user-specific stored for anyone to see. The shared search caches above are anonymous and not traceable to you.
-
Service providers that host and run the Service (Microsoft Azure, East US 2 region) and handle sign-in (Microsoft Entra External ID), bound by their own security and confidentiality commitments.
-
We don't sell, rent, or share anything with advertisers or data brokers.
Delete your data
There is nothing to delete — Filed never stores anything tied to you in the first place. The shared search caches expire automatically (24 hours / 30 days) and were never associated with any user to begin with.
Disconnect: remove Filed from your connectors in Muse at any time.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
